Norfolk Scholar Competition

Apply to win a fully funded scholarship to the Oxford Farming Conference 2023.

If you are aged 18-35, are involved in the Agricultural Industry and live/work or study in Norfolk, then you are able to enter the Norfolk Scholar Competition courtesy of The Royal Norfolk Agricultural Association. The competition offers two winners the opportunity to be named as Norfolk’s farming scholars and be at the epicentre of all agriculture’s pressing issues at the start of 2023 by heading to the Oxford Farming Conference 4-6 January 2023. Mark Nicholas, Managing Director at the RNAA said ‘part of our mission is to enable young people to seize as many opportunities as they can. We are delighted to be offering two Norfolk Scholarships as a result of the success of this year’s Royal Norfolk Show’.

The conference provides a great opportunity to participate in discussions surrounding the key topics affecting the Agricultural industry and to gain
personal and professional development as future leaders of UK agriculture. To apply applicants, need to submit the following information and answer all the questions below via email to jacob.stirling@rnaa.org.uk by no later than 25 October 2022 with in person interviews taking place at Norfolk Showground the first week of November.

The winners will receive a free three-day ticket to the conference including paid travel and hotel expenses.  Successful applicants must submit a report about their experience of the conference so that the RNAA can share these valuable insights with our wider membership after the event.

The Late Geoffrey Burrows

A self-taught painter Geoffrey Burrows, who has died aged 89, was a successful exhibitor at the Royal Norfolk Show’s art show for four decades.
A figurative painter in oil and watercolour, he was born in St Faith’s, near Norwich, and went to Paston Grammar School, North Walsham. He became a telecommunications engineer and then a BT manager in 1991. He lived in Spixworth and took up painting after attending an art class at Sprowston School.
He began serious painting in the late 1960s and was soon exhibiting in London and further afield.
